sewing: teal lace dress

teal lace dress with peacock velvet ribbon

this is my newest creation. i bought the lace fabric on ebay for $4.95. it was a little less than 2 yards, just enough for the pattern that i wanted. for the lining, i use a medium weight silk charmeuse to give the dress a little more structure and less sheer.  i love how the lace 'filters' the shine from the charmeuse, but it still has the glow-y effect. for closure, i use natural pearl buttons lining the center back.

i'm quite happy with this dress. the only problem i have with this pattern (that i failed to recognize from the previous dress) is i should have raised the waistline a bit, maybe by half an inch. i am hesitant (or lazy) to alter it because i fear i might end up ruining it. :)

happy weekend!
xoxo.-

  1. you are incredibly talented when it comes to dress making. this turned out splendid and i love the touch of blue velvet. Maybe you can make the velvet piping thicker to add a higher waist?
