harlem gospel choir brunch

we went for a pre-holiday trip to NYC this weekend. i wanted to surprise flo with something unexpected. i remembered about 3 years ago on a sunday morning in late december we walked around harlem searching for a church because he was interested in what he called an "authentic gospel experience," something that we believe, for us foreigners, can only be experienced fully here. however, we couldn't find a church that was open that day. so for last sunday i reserved 2 tickets for the harlem gospel choir brunch at bb king blues club & grill. i could not tell it was the experience he was eager to have 3 years ago, but it was certainly an interesting cultural experience for us (not to mention a great performance).

we stayed one night in chelsea area, close to eataly and flatiron building, but we spent most of our time walking around. we watched sherlock holmes 2 (we realized that we actually watched sherlock holmes 1 in the same theater 2 years ago), visited yoshinoya (my yearning for japanese brands, but the food was disappointing), and shopped at the uniqlo global flagship store (oh... how their heattech clothings work wonders in winter!).

now it's time for us to pack. the real holiday travel will begin tomorrow. this is our travel route: PHL - MUC (stay in Innsbruck, celebrate xmas with his family, then 10 of our friends will fly in to celebrate new year's with us) MUC - DXB - CMB - SIN (stay in Singapore) SIN - DPS (stay in Bali) DPS - JOG (stay in Yogyakarta with my family) JOG - SIN (stay another night in Singapore) SIN - CMB - DXB - MUC (pause for lunch with friends) MUC - PHL. i cannot say that i don't look forward to it, but the fact that the monster travel will be too long (24 days) and i have many deadlines ahead, i am a bit nervous with this trip.

happy holidays, everyone!
big hugs & big kisses!

  1. Amazing you saw the Harlem Gospel Choir. As a kid my church had a partnership with them and my choir sang with them it was really amazing for us too since our church didn't have gospel music. Wow have an amazing trip...Bali...whoa! I'll live vicariously can't wait to see pics!
